For some strange reason, Windows XP will no longer show me thumbnails for any kind of video files (mpg, avi, wmv, etc). It used to show me the first frame of the video but now it only shows me the generic media player icon. I have no idea what I did to cause this to change but nothing I do changes it back. So far I’ve tried:
reinstalling Windows Media Player 11
reinstalling Divx
removing programs I have recently installed (Nero, AVG Free)
various settings in Windows Explorer (turned “do not cache thumbnails” on and off)
various settings in TweakUI (thumbnail size and quality)
No dice. The other thing is, Windows Explorer no longer has the option “refresh thumbnail” when right-clicking on a video. So I’m betting something is fouled up deep in the registry but I have no idea where to look to get it sorted out. Any help is appreciated!
