I have been using Windscribe for the last couple of months. Today I noticed that Chrome had disabled it pending my permission for what I assume are some new changes to how it works and what it can do.
I am now being told that Windscribe can:
- Read and change all your data on the websites you visit
- Display notifications
- Modify data you copy and paste
- Change your settings that control websites’ access to features such as cookies, JavaScript, plugins, geolocation, microphone, camera, etc.
- Manage your apps, extensions, and themes
- Change your privacy-related settings
On the face of it, giving these permissions seems unwise. On the other hand, Windscribe has a reputation of being a trustworthy extension, is highly rated, and has the Chrome Web Store imprimatur.
Any advice?
Thanks,
