Got one? I don’t, and I kinda wish I did. I guess they’ve fallen out of favor, and when I requested one last time I had my windshield replaced, they guy looked at me like I was crazy. He said “Nobody wants those anymore, they don’t even make 'em.”
The ones that are part of the windshield itself with the fade/gradient to clear have definitely fallen out of favor, but I took both of our new cars (my wife’s and my own, both purchased in the last year or so) to get the windows tinted, and I had a strip of tint applied to the top of the windshield on both…it really helps with glare from the sun, and I like the look too.
I got 20 or 25% tint on the sides/rear and he recommended a 5% film for the windshield strip (the number is percentage of light transmitted, so 5% is darker than 20%).
If you just want the strip added at a tint shop, it should be fairly inexpensive. I paid less than $200 for the full tint job, so the strip by itself should be far cheaper.
Last time we were on a road trip, we bought a couple of the static cling window shade thingies and left one whole, and cut the other one into strips. That way we could move them around as we needed them.
