You see, y’all are focusing on wine made from grapes. And that’s just not doing it for me.
If I had to suggest some I’d go with:
Linganore Winecellars
Both their Raspberry and Honey Mead wines are very good. Not a grape involved. The Plum and Spiced Apple wines get the job done as well.
If I had to choose a grape-based wine I’d go with:
Breaux Vinyards
Sweet Evangeline. Sweet and perfect. I’ve served it at parties with no arguments about serving more.
In my very inexpert opinion, Michigan has a pretty good batch of wineries. Lots of them in the Leelenau Bay area as well as down near Kalamazoo.
One of my favorites is St. Julian. I especially like their Frankenmuth May Wine, flavored with sweet woodruff. Very interesting flavor. About $8 a bottle.
I like stuff pretty much on the sweet side so this works well. Yum!
Also Leelenau Cellars makes a wine they call “Summer White” that I really enjoy. About $5 a bottle. Cheap!
I’ll second Bunny on St. Julian. Their Catawba is dreamy.
I’d also reccomend the Andretti Winery. Their Napa Valley Viognier and their Merlot are particular favorites of mine, but I’ve never had a bottle from their (limited) line that I haven’t enjoyed.
