Wine-nesia?

I have no aversion to alcohol. I’ll drink beer, wine, spirits, liquers… whatever. The trouble is, I never think of it. I have a couple cases of merlot, a few bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon, some beer, some 15-year-old Laphroaig, Jaegermeister, and some sloe gin. Maybe some other stuff. But do I drink it? I never get around to it! I’ll see beer in the fridge every time I open the door. But hey, there’s that cold water in the Britta pitcher! Mmmmm, water!

I poured myself a glass of merlot a couple of hours ago. I drank half of it, then got side-tracked with cooking and eating some ramen and a couple glasses of water. Then I went outside to go down to the market, and on the way I chatted with a couple of neighbours. I happened to look on the counter a little bit ago, and there was the wine. I just forgot about it. I’m sipping it now. Waste not, want not, eh?

I know people who routinely have a few beers in the evening. I know others who have a glass of wine or two. But for some reason I never got into the habit. And I like beer and (red) wine! I think I must have “wine-nesia”. I have the stuff in the apartment, but it rarely occurs to me to drink it.

Sometimes I think I don’t drink enough.

Does this mean we should cancel that SDMB Family intervention then?
