I recently replaced the power source on my PC. After everything was all plugged in, my wireless internet connection (the only connection on this machine) became unreliable. Some times it works just fine (though never for more that a few minutes), sometimes it does nothing at all, sometimes it crawls. I opened the task manager to find that the link speed varies from 54 Mbps to 1 (that’s not a typo, ONE) Mbps (link speed has no noticeable correlation with signal strength). I’ve tried re-installing the driver software, I’ve even tried taking the wireless card out and putting it back in, I’ve run virus/malware scans, and I’ve used my back-up machine to make sure that the wireless router is working properly. I’ve done everything I could think of, except for putting the old power source back in (I’d need to have my friend come over and do that, because I wouldn’t know what to do).
Does it make sense that changing the power source could mess with my connection? If so, any advice on how to fix it? (If it helps, the new power source is a Cooler Master Silent Pro M, 600 Watt; the old power source is a Raidmax ATX 420 Watt; and the wireless card is a Trendnet TEW-623PI)
