Wireless headphones for Teamspeak

I would like a set of wireless headphones for TS, but not sure which ines will work.

I was thinking about the Logitech Gaming Headset G930, but the reviews seem to indicate it doesn’t play nice with TS, I need push to talk, and it apparently doesn’t have that functionability.

Any suggestions?

[I would prefer NOT to get the behind the head crap, I do not find them comfortable at all, and I prefer the larger earmuffy sort, not earbuds …]

Push to talk can be bound to anything - keys, mouse buttons, whatever. So I’m not sure what you mean by the headset not having push to talk. That’s all handled on the software side.

which is good, but the point of having the wireless headset that can work 40 feet away is being able to use it in the kitchen while getting a snack. If I have to be at the keyboard to push to talk, it doesn’t do me much good in the kitchen now, does it? =)

Are there any headsets that work 40 feet away? I’ve gone through 6 sets of wireless headsets and none of them worked reliably more than about a meter and a half away. Though they often claim 10 meters.

Of all the sets I’ve used the only ones I could recommend are the Logitech Clearchat Wireless and the Creative HS-1200. The Creative’s battery life is a bit on the low side(6ish hours when new and about 4.5 hours now that I’ve had it for a bit less than a year), though it can easily be plugged in while in use with no interruption if it starts to run dry. The Logitech had better battery life but would occasionally just cut out for 1-3ish seconds seemingly at random. Sometimes it would go days or weeks of perfect use and other times the cutting out would happen several times an hour. It also charged by pluggin into the wall which is less convenient than the Creative set which charges by usb from an extra cord that comes out of the transceiver.

The logitech I mention int the OP claims to go 40 feet.

Sounds like maybe it’d be easier to move your gaming computer into the kitchen.

I have the 930 wireless and use it all the time. I use it with Teamspeak 3, so I can’t comment on earlier versions. But instead of PTT, why not bind a mute button? TS3 does a fantastic job at keeping my mic levels adjusted, so I don’t have to worry about the activation sensitivity. On top of that there is a setting that will play a click type sound anytime your voice is being transmitted, OR plays a beep sound anytime you speak loud enough to transmit when you are on mute. So it’s really difficult to mess up your mute settings.

So that can reduced the need for a PTT button on the headset. And my favorite part, anytime you flip the mic boom up and out of the way, it mutes itself. So that way when you’re in the other room and can’t see any mute indication on your PC, you know for sure you’re muted by boom placement. And you can unmute easily enough.

That said, as much as I love my 930, it really is annoying that you can’t bind the 3 function buttons on the mic as you see fit. I’d love to be able to bind VLC Player’s play/pause to it.

Mostly Harmless TS requires push to talk. When I am sitting at my computer it is not a big deal, but if I am off in the kitchen, I am SOL because there is no push to talk…the reason I want wireless is so I can gimp to the kitchen [on crutches there is a logistical issue with bringing stuff back to the computer area and I move fairly slowly on crutches anyway]
