Wireless mouse

I recently got an Acer Aspire One laptop, and find i’ve need of a mouse, and I would prefer it to be wireless. Unfortunately, for some reason this laptop doesn’t come with bluetooth.

Since I dislike dongles that stick out of the side of the laptop, I would like to find either:

  1. A mouse that utilizes a computers onboard wifi

or

  1. A bluetooth SD card

Issues. I’ve searched and seen no mice that use wifi at all, and I’m frankly not sure its possible to utilize wifi in that manner. Apparently, in the past, they made Bluetooth SD cards, but it seems noone does now, though I see a wifi SD card. Plus, the couple bluetooth SD cards I’ve seen stick out of the slot, being longer than normal.

So, do any options exist? or am I just going to have to get a wireless mouse with a dongle? They do make them pretty damned small now, but its still a sticky out bit, which would annoy me.

Here what you need. A bit expensive at $ 35- 45 but you can get them for around $25 - $25 on the occasional sale + rebate. Dongle is virtually invisible once plugged in. New laser technology will track on almost any surface. I use this mouse in the red version.

To second Astro that’s a pretty good mouse. As he said the receiver only protrudes about 3/8" or less and is not in danger of being broken. I have an earlier version of the same mouse and it’s receiver protrudes a good inch or so.

I also came with a receiver dock that can sit on your desktop if you choose to use it with a non-notebook PC.

Nice timely thread thi, I have literally just installed my first cordless mouse around 10 minutes ago, a logitech MX620.

One of the first things that reared its head, is that the dongle can have localised dead spots, so I had to run a usb cable from the back of my PC to the front - not having any usb prots on the front - and then plugging the dongle in, result is no stop start dead spots.

I’m also thing of getting a laptop so Astro’s tip is welcome.
