Wireless won't work at home

My wireless connection works just fine at school. When I get home, it won’t connect up, although it is in the same room as the wireless router, and when I right click View Available Networks it says that windows cannot do it, that I must have some other program controlling it. Not that I know of. How can I even check if I do, and can someone recommend steps to restore connectivity at home?

Some of our laptops have software made by the network card running wireless instead of Windows. Check the control panel. Someone who knows more than I will be along shortly.
