With a coin shortage, why don't stores round their pricing (to include tax if applicable)?

Man, I really love my local small town bank. I have always joked around with the teller when I buy change. I’ll ask for 50 ones and she charges me $50, so I point out that she’s making zero profit on the transaction. I never realized there were banks that figured this out.

We have an account with a big national bank as well as one at a small credit union. When we first started with the credit union I tried getting change there…they don’t have bags. I walked in to pick up my 30 or 40 rolls of change and they just handed them to me. WTF am I supposed to do with that. Luckily, it was the dead of winter so I had a hat. Stuck them all in my hat and carried them back that way.
The only time I’ve gotten change there since then is over these last few months when my regular bank is either out of change or limiting it to the point that it’s not worth spending 45 minutes in the drive through lane for 5 rolls of pennies. that we’ll use up in a few hours.
