It’s only a beginning. It’s just a step in the right direction. There are probably loads of problems and complications that still need to be worked out.

Insulin-dependent diabetes is such a tough disorder. I see these patients all the time for home health and also in the dialysis clinic. There have been great strides in research, but so much more could be done if more funding was available. The rare kidney-pancreas transplant is a difficult procedure with mixed results. Let’s all hope for a cure/successful treatment in the near future!
Yeah, I’m holding off on my “woohoo” until they come up with a cure that doesn’t involve taking immune-suppressing drugs for the rest of my life. I’d rather have diabetes.
It’s a positive step. Myself, I’d pass on the surgery since the rejection drugs scare me more than diabetes does. Any progress is good news, when we get around the rejection drugs we’ll really have something.
