Women and baldness

Is it just my imagination, or are we seeing more and more women with thinning hair? If so, what could be the cause(s) of this? The environment? Eating habits? Genetics?

I know I dont have anything to worry about my hair is tooooo thick. But to answer your question, I think it is because I am getting older and I notice the thining hair. When your young, you atleast I didnt notice the signs of aging but now I see all of them.

More and more girls want to be treated like one of the guys. I think it has to do with a womens movement. I doubt if their is a name for this movement, maybe something I’m making up. Women just don’t care as much about it like they did. If their hair grows thin, so be it. Aren’t wig sales on the decline (I think I heard that on the A&E channel)

The Mayo Clinic has a Hair Loss on Women website. One of the causes they cite is stress and I’ve seen it hypothesized elsewhere (no cite available) that as women have entered the business and professional worlds in greater numbers over the last few decades, they’ve become affected to a greater degree by all manner of stress related ailments.

There is also a Rogaine for Women website.
