Women - Can you be dry and still want it?

Put me down in the “K-Y is not good to have in your mouth” column. It makes your tongue numb and tastes terrible.

What kind of KY are we talking about here? There’s the kind in the tube, which is for general lubrication purposes, and then there’s the stuff in the bottle, which is specifically for sex, and which has a sweet taste. If you really object to KY, get Astroglide, which is just as good. Or lube her up yourself, ifyaknowhatimean.

Also, some people are violently allergic to Nonoxynol-9 (and found out the hard way… :frowning: ) so I’d avoid that at all costs.

But there is lube specifically designed to be edible. Watermelon, strawberry, green apple…You’ll probably have to go to the porn store, but it’s out there. And it feels different than KY or astroglide…

:: meekly raises her hand ::

I’d just like to say that most times the stuff with flavors and colors will give me a urinary tract infection if I’m not super careful. Super careful being: 1) drink plenty of water and 2) pee after sex.

Oh, and yes, you can still want sex very badly, but have an uncooperative vagina.
FB

well, to restate what most other posters have said, the amount of wetness is not necessarily an indication of how turned on a woman is

also, i’ve been really wet, but not that turned on (generally, i get pretty wet, so that’s not unusual for me), so it can go both ways

since i’ve started taking the bc pill, i’ve not been getting as wet…i find a good lube for such situations is WET, which is available in most drug stores. It seems to last longer than other products i’ve tried, and not get as gummy.

Foreplay, foreplay, FOREPLAY! This lets her know you care about her needs and that you love her. Men forget that this is a part of the whole sexual experience. Try it and you’ll see. This gets her “ready” for the sweet romancin’ or the hot monkey lovin’, depending on how the night goes.

As for lubrication, I recommend Astroglide or Wet Platinum… these contain NO oil which means they are safe for use with condoms (oil can break down the latex and you may get tiny holes). Those two are the best products I’ve used, they don’t get gummy or dried out. K-Y can get gummy and you can use some water to get it going again. Personally, I don’t want to stop what’s happening long enough to grab some water so I just use either of the above. Astroglide is expensive but you don’t have to use much, Wet Platinum is not quite as good (you may have to add more as you progress into the seduction) but it is cheaper and still won’t gum up.

Now, oil-based lubes are for men to masturbate, that’s the ONLY use for an oil-based lube! Again: oil in lubes can break down the latex. Be careful when using condoms. CHECK the label or ask a clerk for assistance (they won’t laugh at you… err, the GOOD clerks won’t anyway).

And to think my mom said I’d never learn anything working in a porn store… boy, was she wrong!

I second this. Some standard lubes also give me a UTI.

The best sex store in Seattle, Toys in Babeland, has a floor-to-ceiling display full of various lubrication options, including “ketchup packet” single-use samplers, plus a knowledgeable staff who will explain exactly which ones are ideal for which purposes and personal preferences. Yay for Babeland!

And foreplay is fun!

Milord and I… err, my honey and I enjoy the fine arts of foreplay most of the time. Unless I just NEED him as fast as he can shed his pants. Depends on my mood.

Velcro, anyone?
