I’ll be with you in spirit. It sounds like there may be other marches in other parts of the country. I’ll look for one near Portland (Oregon) and see if I can take the family to that one.
I’m thinking about it.
Watching the planning unfold on FB has completely soured me on the event. They have no permits (“We applied!”), have no idea of logistics (“Oh, there are bathrooms at the WWII memorial- no problem!” …except that the WWII memorial is a significant distance from where they want to hold it), and constantly dismiss the concerns of people who live/work in the area. I hope it rolls out as smoothly as an event of this size could, but I just don’t see good things coming of it. I will be spending the week teleworking and staying far from the mess.

Wow, man! I’m not seeing it like that, but hey, if you say so…
…can I get my dollar from the song challenge before you ban me?
This bothers me to. I don’t think there is even a website devoted to the subject yet, just various facebook groups.
I’m going, and a few of my friends are too. A local group is chartering buses - you get on on Friday night, you get off in Washington, march, get back on, get home in the wee hours of the morning. (This is from South Carolina.) Gonna be a shitty day but I’m going to stand up and be counted.
Am rather concerned about the… evolving nature of the planning.
My wife and I are going. We live in DC and are hosting her mom, aunt, a bunch of her former peace corps friends and some others to stay with us for it.
I think you miss the point of the RvW protests; they’re for the pro-life crowd. So the Women’s March will be sandwiched between two huge right-wing events- the inauguration and the annual pro-life rally. I shudder to think of the crowds that will be swirling around the WM participants, which is one of the main reasons why I feel their dismissal of the importance of legitimacy (by obtaining permits and National Park Police assistance) is so scary.
For those who aren’t familiar with DC laws and are planning on attending- if it looks like you’re going to be arrested, make sure it happens on the street. The sidewalks and memorial grounds are federal property, but the streets are DC-controlled. You don’t want a federal charge on your record.
Going to downtown Chicago inauguration night to protest in front of Trump’s hotel. Stay strong in DC!
I’m going with my friend, and her sister is probably going to join us. I’m also going to protest at the inauguration the day before.
