Women's Vitamins

My wife recently purchased ONE A DAY vitamins for women. She is 23 years of age and is of average build. She was wondering if this would be the best vitamin choice or is there something else she should try and what are the general views on vitamins.

If she is looking to get pregnant any time soon, or even if she’s not, she should take extra folic acid. I am a woman in my mid-thirties and I take daily a multivitamin with iron, a B complex + C, a Vitamin E (for fibrocycstic breasts, your wife might not need this), a folic acid, and three times a day, evening primrose oil (this has those “essential fatty acids” and may play a role in mood regulation). You probably know that nutrients are best consumed through foods, so she should have a healthy diet, too.

Hope this helps. What she should avoid is too much iron, calcium, or Vitamin A. A good web site is the American Dietetic Association: www.eatright.org.
