Sorry to disappoint. There are doctors who dispute the PVS finding. Each side can provide evidence to support their claims.
This comes down to personal belief systems. My beliefs involve a respect for life - even a severely damaged one. If a person can breathe on his own and has not left proof beyond a reasonable doubt that he would wish treatment withheld, I would rather err on the side of life. This is consistent with my appreciation of individual rights.

No there aren’t. There are a couple of pro-life activist doctors who have said that “maybe” she’s not PVS but they didn’t examine her and they haven’t bothered to explain the flat EEG or the massive cortical atrophy in the CAT scans. They’re political shills.

In this case, there WAS clear and convincing evidence that Terri did not want to be kept alive as a vegetable.

wonderwench This is why you really need to read the court documents for yourself. The other doctors based their ‘disagreement’ on video provided by Ms. Schaivo’s parents. It turns out that the video was heavily edited. The court requested that the entire video be seen and realized that the Doctors’ claims had no basis in FACT, as the video which was used as evidence was edited to hide Ms. Schaivo’s real condition.

Why is the family right, but everyone else wrong? I would submit it is because you agree with the family. Well, thats fine. Agree away! But be honest and state that.
We have a lot of people of faith on this board. Alot of the admit that there is no scientific proof of God, but they believe anyway. Nobody pits them for that! There are doctors who dispute the “scientific” facts that those who support the withdrawal of nutrition have relied upon for their version of what is right and what is wrong.
