My granddaughter, COTU#1, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes several months ago. She is ten.
A couple of months ago, her health insurance approved her for a CGM, Continuous Glucose Monitor. This household is so classy, The Elf on the Shelf has a CGM!
Today, she got an insulin pump! And the insulin pump communicates with the CGM! And both gizmos send information to her phone! (Mom and Dad’s phones, too!
So tell me, how absolutely COOL is all this? Kids today are so comfortable with electronics that these whiz-bang gizmos can just ease right in to their lives.
I am beyond grateful she has this fantastic opportunity. I just had to announce it to the world. Or the Straight Dope, anyway!

(COTU#1 stands for “Center of the Universe,” our designation for our grandchildren. We have three, and #1 was the first one.)
