Woo Hoo I am going in for sinus surgery

Well in 4 hours I am getting endoscopic sinus surgery and I am totatally excited. Hopefully when all is said and done I will be able to breathe like a norml person though my nose. Right now my nasal air intake is at 33% and has been for my entire life so far. I am so stoked that I am finnally getting this done. My mind is all a flutter with how things are going to different when I can breathe. Will I sound different? Will I be able to sleep better? Will I have more stanima bacause I can get more air in? I hope it is yes to all three.

I am really excited too because for the last three days I have had a cold. I am just over it this morning. I was gettng scared that wasn’t going to be able to have it done. But now I will, I just think god was testing me on that one. Well I appologise for my thoughts being a little bit rambles today but I am just gitty like a school girl this morning.

Well I just wanted to share my joy I will let you guys know how it went when I am all doped up on pain meds. (No those should be some fun posts)

Let us know how things come out. I may want to have this done some day as I can’t really breathe through my nose either.

It’s like finding god. Enjoy your new honker.

Good luck w/ the surgery. I do have a question though.

A friend of mine had it (or something similar) done. She said the result was feeling like you had the worst sinus infection ever for a week after you had the surgery done. Let me know if it’s happening to you too, please.

Oh, and for the record, she said it was well worth it.

Wow, endoscopic nose surgery? I am SO jealous; I had it done back in the old stick-scalpels-up-in-there-and-scrape-around days. Worked great, though, once I got past having my nose packed for 48 hours after surgery – hopefully they’ve progressed to where they don’t do THAT any more, either!

But all that being said, I’ve been grateful ever since that I had it done; it made a BIG difference.

Good luck, and happy breathing!!

Well so far so good. RIght now my nose is packed with gauze so i can’t breathe through it. That is a little bit uncomfortable, but I am doped up on perkaset so i don’t feel any pain. Accuallyright now it isn’t as bad as I though it would be. It feels like I have a bad cold and I can’t blow my nose. But I am awake and moving. I can’t wait to see how I can breathe in a week. I will keep you guys posted on my progress. Thanks for you support

At least it wasn’t as bad as you imagined. I hope you recover quickly and can breath properly.

I feel like I should have something witty to add here.

Sorry.

Actually, I think your name is quite witty, given the context.

Well day one of my recovery, I went down to the doctors office today and they yanked out 4 tampon like things they had shoved up my nose. Not the most pleasent experience. You ever seen the moving “Total Recall?” It was like that part where Arny is pulling the bug out of his nose. And to make that worse my nostrils acted like a squegee and some of the blood shot into the back of my throat and made me gag. Then I sat there and bled into a cup for like ten minutes. Now I feel OK. I can breathe through my nose about as well as I ever could. And my speah has improved I don’t sound as nasal as I have my entire life. The good doc said it was about a 10 day recovery time, I have to take it easy and I can’t blow my nose at all for ten days.

When I talked to the doctor today she was even suprized at the size of the polyps up nose. That is kinda bad when the doctor has to go wow those suckers were big.

As for last night I made it through ok, I made sure I was doped up real good and I didn’t get much sleep but I survived and I can’t wait until everything is better. I can already tell I will be like a new man. WEll speaking of being drugged and sleeping that is what I am going to do, my nose is still a bit tender so Perkoset here I come. For all those that are still interested I will keep you updated. I hope my experiences can help some of you make the right choice for you.

mouthebreather that is a good one. But it isn’t for me any more.

Congratulations! It is wild exprerience the first time you realize you are breathing through your nose like a normal person. The real fun begins when the ENT tells you to start doing the saline washes.

etgaw1, I’m hoping to have this done in the next couple of months. I’m very excited about the possibility of breathing through my nose, and not having a nasal voice. Definitely keep us updated – I’m very interested to hear about your experiences.

Recovery day 2 - I feel great, I slept the whole night with out pain pills last night. I just had to take one though my sinus is a little sore. The salt water irrigation isn’t plasent but it helps. All in all I am very happy. I feel better than I thought it would in fact I am, going to have trouble taking it easy I feel so good. While I can still tell the insides are swollen my breathing is getting better and you can already tell a diffrence in my voice. So far everything is going well. I can’t wait for the swelling to go down so I can see how good things really are.

Bar None - the BEST thing I ever had done was having my nose surgery, and that was 15 years ago.

I had a deviated nasal septum (broke my nose a couple of times as a kid), and big ol sinus polyps.

Oh, by the way, 2nd best thing I ever did was get a CPAP machine a couple of years ago. Ahh… to sleep through the night and feel refreshed in the AM!

What’s a CPAP machine? (Which I first read as C-R-AP machine).

Recovery Day 3 - Feeling better. Yesterday I went for a walk to the movie store. It is 1 o’clock and I haven’t taken any pain meds, but I did run some errands. But I do think I over did it today so I am going to take my meds and then take a nap.

Yeah what is a CPAP machine.
