Some background, I never win anything. If there is a drawing at work, a coin flip for the tab or any other game involving luck I will lose. I accepted this fact years ago. Anyway…
Today I went shopping with my Mom. After shopping we went to a buffet at one of the Casinos. When I finished eating I went to the restroom. On the way back to the table I got this sudden urge to play a video poker machine. A note, in my three years living in Vegas I have gambled three times. Each time was when friends came in from out of town. So I dig around in my pocket and come up with three quarters. I walk over to the nearest quarter video poker machine and pop them in and hit the deal button. Four 7’s come up. My eyes buldged out. I saved the 7’s and hit the deal button again. The machine rang up 80 quarters. I hit the payout button and walked away with $20!
Take that Gods of Chance. I beat you, I WON! I FINALLY WON!!!
The only down side is that if I would have popped in 5 quarters I would have won $100. But $20 is $20.
I have been to Vegas 5 times, and its all about luck! I, like you never win anything. That changed one night as I decided to pop a couple of dollars in the dollar slot. I came away $300.00 richer after the second spin! Of course, that has never been duplicated!
I’ve never won any substantial amounts of money or merchandise, but there was this time when my friend Lauren and I were eating out at a Japanese restaurant. Since she spent more than $25, she was entitled to enter a draw. She happened to pick the one gold ball in a machine full of color-coded balls, where each color corresponded to a prize. The gold-colored balls had the most expensive prizes associated with them. (trip to Vegas, karaoke nights, gift certs for sushi, TVs, etc.) I’m not sure what she ultimately won… she told me a few weeks ago, but I forgot. Wasn’t the trip to Vegas, though.
Poker at the tables is very different than poker at the video poker machine. I’d bet that I would come out even with you at a poker table. Poker at the tables is playing against the other people at the table. The house gets some money but you are not playing aginst the house you are playing against the schmucks around you. Skill is involved.
When you play video poker games basically no skill is involved. Vedio poker is pure luck.
I won 10k on a state lottery scratch ticket on 9/10/01… I waited a full year to buy another ticket - that was a $500 winner in late September this year. I hadn’t bought a lottery ticket since then, and the powerball was at 160mil so I got a powerball ticket this morning … $35 winnner.
Here is a more fun way to sort of win money. Search the net for your state in this format “state of california unclaimed property” . So far every state I tried has an official state web site. You put in your name or your dad’s name in the property search box, etc & bingo, see if someone owes you money. I found about $100 this way …
