Woohoo! Got my iPhone

I love it! I’m also posting from it right now.

It was a life changer for me, that’s for sure. I call it the “SDMBanywhere” device.

Back to my computer now…but damn that thing is cool. First thing I did was download AIM onto it. Can’t wait to learn all the fun features.

I love mine- got it around this time last year. I started off slowly- using it as just a phone. Then I discovered the texting, the calendar, the web surfing, the iPod/iTunes stuff, the maps, notepads, weather updates… everything synching to my MacBook every time I charge the thing (yes, my laptop charges my phone- it’s beautiful).

Holy crap! How did I live without this thing? And I know that it does a ton of stuff I haven’t figured out yet…

I got mine last Christmas. It changed my life too. I never really listed to music much before I got it, but now I use it all the time.

Congrats! Be sure to download lots of apps!

A quick question, is it possible in the US to just buy the phone without having a two-year subscription to a cell phone carrier? Here in holland you can only get an Iphone (or the new blackberry for that matter) if you also take the two-year contact with the lousy carrier I don’t want.

No. Apple requires a contract.

Welcome to the Cult.

Did you get a 6-gig monthly data plan? I found that I’m not using anywhere near six gigs a month; more like 500 megs.

Hold your horses. You need a contract on the NEW phone.

You can use the Version1 iPhone and use nearly any phone service with a SIM that fits. Also you’d want to be sure that the service offers mobile internet, of course.

Unlimited baby, unlimited.

Ah, but can you tether?

I’m not sure if the plan offers that, but others I looked at were like 40 more bucks a month for tethering. It’s not worth the cost for me.

Technically no one can (well…should). AT&T has it spelled out in the contract that the data plan is not to be used for tethering (unless you pay more for the tethering option). I know it’s technically possible, but they would be within their rights to charger you more, cancel your account, or whatever if they find out. Even the “unlimited” data plan isn’t necessarily unlimited and you might get in trouble for tethering with it.

Congrats – and welcome to the clique.

I love mine. Hell, I spend an unOgly amount of time blogging about it (mainly app reviews these days), so … yeah. I guess I kind of have to.

If’n ya need help or suggestions or whatever feel free to ask. Damn thing has taken over my life.

Glad you could join us. See, I told you it was awesome!

I’m hearing “one of us, one of us” in my head now. Thanks!

My iPhone love is well documented too. How 'bout a link to your blog?

frapstr.com is my app review site. (No direct link, just in case I’m running afoul of any spam rules here.) There’s a link at the top to our main geberal iPhone site as well, though we’ve kind of let that slide over the last couple of months owing to a rather large iPhone project we’re working on right now. I still try and keep the reviews going though 'cos it’s a new site and I don’t wanna seem too flaky and unreliable.

Which one’s yours? I might even have it bookmarked already.

I meant that it’s well documented here. I don’t have a blog of any kind.
