The Las Vegas Craps?
Well, no other league has the guts to expand to the largest market in the country without a major league sport (unless you include San Bernardino, and lets face thats really an LA market), so kudos to the NHL for jumping in on the opportunity.
I agree “Black Knights” or “Knights” seems lame; any name with “Hawks” in it wont get approved without some input from Chicago, and surely the NHL would prefer the team to avoid names that reference gambling.
Why not real/mythical desert animals like:
Thunderbirds
Condors
Vultures
Roadrunners
Firebirds
Mustangs
Bobcats???
Firebirds and Roadrunners would be cool callbacks to some old minor league hockey teams. Comets and Golden Eagles were also old timey WHL names they could probably use.
