So the fall of 2005 was my last semester at UIUC, they didn’t care too much for me not going to hardly any of my classes. Since then I’ve gotten myself together a bit, strung together a couple semesters of 3.5+ GPAs at different schools. Today I got my letter saying that I’ve been readmitted for the upcoming semester. Whew.
Now I just need to register and find a place to live. If all goes well I can graduate in the spring, although that’d be with two 18 hour semesters in a row, including a third level German course which I’m not in practice with. In any case, I’m back in the best school in the country for my major, today’s a good day.
Congratulations! I am entering my final year this fall after a temporary departure (forced leave) as well. Good luck with everything! I would recommend several alarm clocks and maybe a pet that bites you when you are still in the house and should be on the way to class.
Is UIUC generally considered the best school in the country? I’m not an American, so I have no dog in this, and it’s not meant to be a snark, but I’ve barely heard of the place. I’d have thought it would be Harvard or Stanford or MIT or something.
UIUC is very very highly ranked for the sciences, especially engineering. It goes right up there with MIT, Caltech, Stanford for different types of engineering. It has a number of decent graduate programs, as well.
I think it’s a decent public school, overall. It’s certainly not unknown by any means.
