Or, alternately, to have already checked most of the letters that could solve it. Unfortunately in this case, I’m seeing options of BATCH, CATCH, HATCH, LATCH, MATCH, PATCH and WATCH. Not only is it unreasonable to check all of BCHLMPW, in order to check C and H you have to use two of each in words since the answer ends in CH. Just a killer. There will definitely be people to fail this one, though hopefully none of us here in the thread.

This is one time I’m glad I don’t force myself to play hard mode. I usually do but just because I want to shoot for a low score. This time I was able to think of a third word that contained most of the possible first letters I could think of.

Well, yeah. It’s a game with significant luck. If you get it in three, you have to have been lucky. There’s probably other words, too, like YACHT My phone stats are pretty lucky: I’ve played four games and all have been three. On my desktop, it’s mostly fours.

I don’t follow; how does WOMBS eliminate CATCH?
Note: The problem isn’t that WATCH was on the answer list. The problem is that
BATCH, CATCH, HATCH, LATCH, MATCH and PATCH are all almost certainly still in the answer list.
This is the kind of scenario that prompted me to start using words like CLAMP as openers. Trying to use up most of the possibilities before hard mode makes you reuse letters.
