In your situation, I probably would have gone for THROE over THEIR as well, thinking that THEIR was just a little too vanilla for the game. In fact, I did do just that with my puzzle above, trying to think of any word other than THEIR as a final answer that fit my information, but couldn’t think of any.
RENEW → No double E, so that’s nice to know TEARS → Darn it, forgot to move the one E I knew about. Should have tried TIERS… wait, tried… TRIED → H is still available from common letters… THEIR
This one kicked my ass more than it should have. I just could not come up with a word ending in IR or UR and had to burn a guess on a word I knew was wrong before it came to me. THEIR is one of those all-too-common words that you (well, I, anyway) just don’t think about much. My mind goes through nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions… I got thrown by a pronoun.
" Will I pick a new one now? "
Maybe for tomorrow. But I use it for the T, I, E, R and combo of TH. Not because I think it is the answer. I didn’t even know it was on the answer list. Kind of a bummer really- play time is over before it starts.
I am playing archive games and quordle more then I should. I don’t get why people like the only one game a day feature.
Because then it becomes a social thing and threads like this can exist. This type of game has been around for many years. This whole social aspect of it made it a phenomenon, IMHO.
