Well, my streak ends at 126. Now might be a good time to shake the addictive habit but presumably I’ll keep going given my tendency to absentmindedly also play the Dordle, Quordle, Octordle, etc. variants most days while watching television. At least now I can take the opportunity to switch to playing Wordle on my phone from playing on an old desktop PC.
I’m glad not to have read the “distinctively American” reference in the thread although I’m positive I would have gotten the solve if I had seen it. I had repeatedly steered away from the actual solution numerous times because it just didn’t seem Wordle enough for that very reason.
See before I plugged in the answer I was puzzled about why a Greek poet would be tagged as an American clue d’oh!.

Clearly, I was heading into a trap. So for my 4th word I decided to eliminate letters with a word I knew it couldn’t be - I don’t think I’ve done that before, but it sure paid off with the word I decided to go with! I’m not sure if I would have thought of the answer word otherwise - well, I could have, but I had a list of words already in my head and it wasn’t one of them at that time.

TRAIN → I was hoping for a better start than this, on a day when I get to use a good start word
SPORE → Two vowels is a good haul. A lot of common consonants are gone too.
HOVER → Oh. So close.
HOMER
I thought RE prefix after the second guess, but REPOT/RETRO/REMIT/REFIT were already excluded, so that didn’t go anywhere.
Have a cerveza for each guess esta noche, amigos!

homer The answer seemed like a throwaway dumb pick to find spot for my yellow squares.
Got it in three, but it should have been four.

Here’s tomorrow’s. Wasn’t expecting to get it so quickly after the first guess failed entirely. But that’s the elimination game!

I may be in the minority, here, but I’d prefer that any hints be spoilered. I couldn’t dismiss it from my mind after having read it, and my first guess did lend itself to a second that would fit the hint.
Not the biggest issue in the world, certainly. Still, that’s how I’d vote (to spoiler-tag at least the crucial word or words in hints) if we were to have a vote.
Same vote from me. Please.
