I use Excel for picturing combinations. Column A is the possible combinations for one letter, Column B adds another letter, etc.
And this may be cheating to some people, but I use Excel for when I have three greens. I put the remaining letters in the spreadsheet and with formulas, copy-pasting, and a sort I get all possible combinations of words (total number of “words” would be number of remaining letters squared). I then go down the list looking for real words. Before that I basically did the same thing in my head, but this way is a lot faster.

This one was very tricky. After exhausting all five standard initial words, I wasn’t feeling too confident that I’d get the word.

I do a similar thing on my phone. I have a Notes app that keeps my running Wordle work, but it also has my five standard guesses (starting with EARTH) with the letters remaining:

Anyone else feel the puzzles are becoming a little harder? Maybe I used to be better at guessing in two than now, but that essentially depends on luck and using more common letters. Still undefeated, but average probably just a shade under four.

Took 14 minutes total; my mind just refused to consider any ‘three of the same consonant’ possibilities. “FLUGU?? FLUVY?? FLUDS??” Yeesh.
Could be subjective, but on the other hand it could have been a conscious strategy on the part of the game-maker to avoid hard/annoying words for the first few months, in order to get people hooked…
