Well, that wasn’t fun. I almost forgot to play tonight and had to hurry through this before midnight hit. After my third word, I really struggled to find a valid word. Finally I just went with a word I knew wasn’t right (the E wasn’t valid) to see if I could find out where the letters go. I laughed when I saw what it was (same word essentially, just a different form of it). I have no idea why I wasn’t seeing the word. But at least I got it, and finished just in time too.
Thought I had this one in two, but I was wrong. Managed to get it in four, though.

Had it down to four possibilities after the first two guesses (TRIPE and BRUTE were the other two). This was one of those situations where I could have played it safe and guaranteed a 4 (BIPPY was my play-it-safe 3rd word), or taken a shot at a 3 at the risk of a possible 5. Took the shot, wound up at 4 anyway.
