T in 4th position and the last letter cannot be A, E, or H…so I figure it’s got to be one of the remaining vowels, I, O, or U, or Y. I comes first alphabetically but how many common English words end “ti”? (Borrow-words, sure.) So I try O, eventually getting a few options, with “motto” being the most common word among them. (“Lotto” is also common, of course, but less ‘moral’.)
So: a lucky start and the thought ‘they haven’t had a double-double in a while’ resulted in ‘motto.’

Boy that trailing P sure trapped me in the trap but good. Mostly it was my fault, as I kept guessing the moment I saw a word without looking for more. If I had stopped and thought of all three of the above S__MP solutions, I would have absolutely chosen to play stomp first. Which means I had a legit shot at a 2 on this one but pooched it into a 4.

A bit lucky today but happy to take it.
Correction: If I had stopped and thought of possibilities before guessing, I would have seen and guessed stamp first because in my mind A > O > E > I > U. Meaning I would then guess stomp before stump, so a 3 was possible, but no way would I have gotten a 2.
