An ugly six for me. An alarming number of words remained in play after I placed the Y. BALKS eliminated many of them, but I was still worried even at six. I started wondering if HULLY, WULLY, and ZULLY were words. This game can mess with your head.
But I lived to Wordle another day.

CHARM → Strikeout, with some common letters in there. Huh.
STENO → Another. Half the vowels are gone. Something with U & I? (aka we together)
FLUID → Can’t be UVULA. Is there a Y? If so, probably at the end… so maybe a double L…

I had all the possible ‘ULLY’ words after my second guess after trying lots of other letter orders. I was afraid of that. My third try pretty much confirmed it. Out of the 4 remaining choices, ‘GULLY’ was just a lucky try.
Happy with a 4 today.
Someone may get tomorrow’s in one, but it sure wasn’t ever going to be me.

Same exact play as Lumpy had. In my case, it was ‘looking for common consonant pairs’ to fit that _ _ A R _ pattern that proved to be the, er, you know.

I had a list of about a half-dozen words that were not yet winners, that would fit after guess #2; “JUMPY” eliminated all of them except GULLY and SULLY. Tried them in alphabetical order (which sometimes works and sometimes does not.)

This was a semi cheat. I accidentally clicked on one of the early posts and saw the last word but for some reason thought it was an incorrect guess. Meanwhile, I think that it was the only word possible after my second guess so I tried it even though I “knew” it was wrong.

After my second word with only the L in yellow, and all vowels but U and Y ruled out, I saw the trap. Thankfully two of the words were ruled out, and I had enough guesses left to not fail, so it was a matter of rolling the dice. Happy to get it in 4 with luck on my side this time.

Well that’s annoying. It feels like enter should have been the answer for a 3. Rabble rabble grumble grumble.
Your second word had me thinking of meter. Also my third word enter, unless it’s already appeared as an answer.
Yeah, I sailed right past INTER because it’s a prefix, right? It had to be ENTER, I thought: got this sucker nailed in 3. Except ‘inter’ is also what you do with the deceased’s remains, and in that context it’s a word in its own right.
Anyway, grrr argh. Thought I had that 3 nailed, but nope.
