SLURP resulted from wanting to check both S and another vowel (U in this case) plus make use of the R (plus not use words that have already been winners).

STERN
SHOAL
SLACK
SCALD
Similar reasoning to yesterday’s, with the exception that I knew after Guess 1 that the word had to start with an S (and NOT be an already-winning word. That is really starting to narrow things down!)

SCALD
Yet another one where I had to toss in a sleuth word (dumpy) to avoid a fail. Though a few of the words I had as options I’m not sure would have been an answer word, but didn’t want to take any chances. Glad to get it in 4.

After 2 I could see score, scorn and scour. Figured either of score or scorn would guarantee a 4 with a chance of 3, but sadly I picked wrong.

SCORN - Apparently there is only one other possible word. So I had a 50/50 chance for a 2.
Wordle 468 3/6 “I offered up my innocence, got repaid with…”
SLANT => had about 20 good prospects for a solution
CHORE => still seemed to be the best choice to narrow things down
SCORN => to just this one possibility, as it turned out

How refreshing it was to learn that there are NO other letters except ‘N’ that end with S-T-A-R other than ‘E’, and I’d already E-liminated that one.

Missed posting a day. SCALD was 5/6.
SCALD → Narrows things down considerably… can I try a word with two vowels?
SCORE → Ah, so close.

About 15 seconds from start to finish. MIght have taken a little longer if I had gone with SCOUR second.
Seriously!

This is the downside of not playing hard mode. After 2 I had a nice geometric pattern of yellows, and then I saw blaze and had visions of a perfectly symmetrical 3. But then I noticed a bunch of possibilities: blade/blaze, glade/glaze and flake. So I went with baked to positively identify among those five. No new letters hit meant that the answer had to be glaze.
When the L came up yellow in the second position I knew I had fucked up. Not moving that L to check its position left me scrambling, similarly to when I actually lost on hunky. Fortunately I was able to eke out a 6 here. I’ll take it.
Phew indeed.

Nice way to end out the month with a 3.
In case anyone is counting, there now have been 5 days in a row with the letter S in the word (and two words starting with SC in a row). I know S is a common letter, but there will be dry spells, one of which happened earlier in September, and then we get 5 in a row. That said, I still got it in 3, so I can’t complain.
