"Wordle," a strangely compelling word game (Part 1)

Well for me, this one was terrible, until suddenly it wasn’t.

I also tried the French one that gives you the first letter out of eight. Yesterday it was an eight-letter word starting with R, and I simply got stuck at the end even though I had most of the letters. Today I got more lucky, as some of the tries were very English-like, and it’s helpful to do it in easy mode.

It does make for pretty colors.

I took a chance and got it in two. I couldn’t believe my luck.

Sometimes it’s better to be lucky, than good!

From there, I went to most likely last letters, but I really stressed about whether the game would use the word, due to it’s slang meaning.

Wait, you can go back and do the older ones?

COOL.

No, those are all different languages (except Primel, which I only had the prior day of because I posted it on a mathy friend’s FB page).

In first year engineering we had to program a graphic game of Master Mind. Not all that hard, even for a very mediocre programmer like me. But never much liked that game. I like this one a lot, even though it is not so different. Strange. Yet I have zero interest in trying out copycat versions or other languages - sometimes less is more.

Here’s tomorrow’s. I almost got it in three.

Getting a bit samey for me.Most times, two goes gets the framework, which admits a number of possible solutions. Then it’s guesswork and luck.

I finished a Spanish game in 4, but it was challlenging.

That’s how all puzzles work. I do wonder what you all think is supposed to happen.

Haha! I didn’t think they would either. But I went ahead and pulled the trigger anyway and got it in 3.
