Bad enough that I made a mess of this, but really stinks to get a 5 when everyone else is getting 2’s and 3’s.
Just got lucky on the opening word, which I use every day. With the revealed letters, there was only one solution. Dumb luck, not skill.
Should’ve followed my first instinct on my second word, which became my third word. I’d have gotten it in 3.

My first instinct was to put the E in the middle, and yeah, there’s a good chance TREND would have been my word. But I just couldn’t help myself from checking another vowel. Damn!

SQUAT → Can I get a word with I & E & two common consonants? There’s one, though I’m sure it’s not an answer…
TILER → But, a good guess. Only O & Y vowels left… but maybe there’s just the E, which would put it in the middle most likely. TRE??, I should try N or M here, so TREN? looks like…

Scoredle said TROPE would have been the best third guess for me. I was lucky to have fixated on needing to check the N there.

After 2 I felt like I was in such uncharted territory having not checked C yet, so naturally I gravitated to touch. Then I was happy that I’d already checked N and P, leaving toxic as the only option. (Of that little mini-trap, at least. I didn’t keep looking.)

After my 2nd word, I had a list of 7 words* - my top three choices were Nerdy, Nervy, and Trend…thought I’d check that terminal Y. Well, ya can’t get lucky every time 
, and I’ll gladly take the 4.
*Scoredle said I had 28 choices after my 2nd word - the majority of them I’ve never even heard of, but I got to learn a new word…Nertz, which is slang for Nuts (as in crazy or nonsense)…I think I’ll add that to my vocab next time one of my cats does something nertzy. 
Edit to add: So many 2’s today! I thought I was fortunate to get it in 4 with all the words I had to choose from. Too bad this wasn’t the answer on Feb. 20th (#611), as I went with Trend for my start word that day.
