I got it in 4.
Today (the 28th) got it in 4. The frustrating thing is that on the 3rd try I had 4 out of 5 correct letters, all in the wrong place. (SAVED) Luckily that was enough to figure it out after some thought.
I got it in three today.

I definitely would have gotten it in only 2 if I had started with RATIO. Starting with ADIEU wouldn’t have been anywhere near as good. TRAIN would have been better, maybe just as good as RATIO but I haven’t taken the time to analyze TRAIN.
The 29th’s word was kind of uncommon IIMHO. I had to resort to looking down a list of words that started with TA after my 2nd guess, and TAPIR was the only one that I recognized that fit. There were a bunch of others on the list that fit that I have a hard time believing are really words anybody uses..
I should probably learn how to spoiler things.

Funny! I also started with RATES. From there I went to TARPS even though it wasted a letter because I couldn’t think of a fresh word that started with TAR. Once I got the info from TARPS, the solution was very apparent.

My first guess only had 2 correct letters and in the wrong spots. My second one had 3 correct letters and one of them in the right spot, which made it a lot easier.

Look at the line of confusing symbols at the top of the reply window, and click on the one at the far right that’s probably supposed to look like a gear and indicate ‘tools’.
That will bring up a list. Click on “blur spoiler”.
This is exactly what I did.

I think it’s going to get boring if I always start with the same word.
Stern was my standard start word. Was.
How weird. I also got it in three today. I was thinking that was remarkable especially for an obscure word, but apparently other people also managed that feat.
