In hindsight, I should have played Proud second…I was considering it. Oh well, a 4 it is for today.

STARE

With R needing to be in second position I wasted some time listing impossible solutions (due to prohibited letters; FRUIT, BRUTE, etc.) Finally started running down the alphabet looking to fit a “_R_UT” template, and that worked.

I was thrown by all the yellows for a minute. At first I was stuck on otter/utter until I realized my second guess eliminated both. Then looking at _OTER the answer became obvious.
Wordle 644 1/6*
I accidentally saw a vague spoiler on the comments section to an unrelated newspaper crossword. Once seen I couldn’t un-see it. I feel that I have cheated and been cheated in equal measure. Bad day.

Voter came to mind first, but I thought tower was more likely, I was wrong.

“Great” Wordle ?
No need to be sarcastic.
Total bust.
Wordle 644 X/6
I keep waiting for Wordle to say, Loser! When you dont get it in 5.
Really! But I bet that would make Josh Wardle’s blood curdle.
This is real embarrassing. My hard mode got turned off somehow, and here I was blaming the robot for not acknowledging that I was following hard mode rules.

Just too many _O_ER words with too many different letters. Even two test words couldn’t save me. Bah!
Another lucky second try for me, resulting in a 3 today:

After TOWER, there was nothing left but VOTER. Took me a few minutes to find it, though.

OUTER

OUTER, in my regular rotation of starting words, turned out to be very lucky. The only other _OTER word I could see other than VOTER was “NOTER”–which though a word, is a really rather lame one. (Not that that’s always stopped them.)
Next-to-last post! I guess…)

Just wasn’t my day today, though I’m a tad annoyed at 5 days in a row with a T and also 5 V’s this month.
Oooh, just squeezed in before the new thread!
