SKILL → Ok, only one L, where should it go? And can we KO some other high-frequency letters?
CLEAT → aha, that’s where it goes. Perhaps another vowel?
PLIED → D must go in the middle, but then ?LDE? - not A, could be O, or, another E… ELDER
I’m still kind of scared for when QUEUE makes its appearance.
I had to work harder than usual on this one. Was getting worried after three, but got lucky on the fourth guess.

Maybe “lucky” isn’t the right word. I used up all the vowels and kept moving that D around, but I had to stare at it for a good long time before even coming up with a valid word at all.
I decided not to use my normal starter word this time:

My usual starter is ADIEU, even though it’s been shown to hardly be ideal. I wonder if I would have gotten it any faster that way. I would have definitely gotten it in 4. I usually follow up ADIEU with PORTS, which would have put me on 3 letters, with one in the right place.
If I understand the way Wordle is set up, there’s a wider list including more obscure words that are permissible as guesses, but a narrower list of possible solutions. So you can start with something like SALET that I’m currently using (I have no idea what it means!), it is allowed but it could not be the solution.
I don’t think GLUER would be a “mistake” as an earlier guess, since it covers several common letters. But perhaps it’s only in the wider list, and could not be a solution? I’m not sure, it’s not all that obscure a word. But if so, I guess you’re right that it wasn’t the best choice at that stage when you are so close to the solution.
This is a general question, but on the chance that it might suggest something about today’s word (233), I’ll spoil it.
If I guess there’s a double letter when there isn’t, does it show the 2nd instance of the letter in my guess as “not present” or “present but in the wrong place.”
For example, say the word is SPENT and I guess SLEET.
Will it show (there is an E but not in position 4)
or (there is not a second E in the word)
