What the hell?
Am I the only one here still using the old site? I came here to share my angst over AGORA, only to find you all got a much more common word.
I did get it in 4, but I had to step away for a bit after my third word and come back with fresh eyes.
Guess it’s time to switch over to NYT, dammit.
I was using a UK site that now redicts to
Today’s word was AROMA.
I only know it from crosswords and Scrabble as a word in its own right. I find it surprising as a Wordle answer, and don’t expect it to be in most adult English vocabularies.
Three tries for me today.

I still find the double use of the same letter annoying.
Four guesses for tomorrow’s game, but did not like this puzzle answer.

One thing I like about Wordle is how it’s the type of game you can walk away from. I squinted at it for a while this morning and couldn’t figure it out after the second guess. Opened my phone just now and it clicked immediately.
That click is a nice feeling.
I had a real hard problem thinking of todays answer, AROMA. For some reason it took me a long time to realize the word could end in A.
I was just made aware of Guessoword.
Pretty much the same as Wordle, except a) you can play as much as you want and b) you can play words anywhere from four to fifteen letters long.
The longer words pose a different kind of challenge, but it’s hard not to get them in a few guesses, given how many letters you can eliminate (or not) in one shot.
Unfortunately, the button is there; it just does nothing. I’ve reloaded, and still nothing.
Maybe you allowed pop-ups for the old site but not the new site yet?
Oh, that’s too bad.
If Wordle is too easy, you can try Absurdle. The secret word is a moving target that is trying to evade your guesses. So, there’s some strategy about which letters you guess in what order.
Another one I find challenging is Dordle, in which your guesses are applied to two separate puzzles at the same time.

This one took me a hot minute. Took a slight gamble on the opening word which worked well enough even with no hits. Made it fun to come up with a second word getting to choose five good new letters.
That third guess, though; took me a while to come up with any word with three good new letters while moving both yellows to new positions. The first one I came up with was the correct answer.
I honestly didn’t think it was possible to access the old site. Putting the old URL into my browser redirects me to the NYTimes version. I had to use the Wayback machine to look at the old version to compare the source codes and figure out why people were seeing a different answer, and when I did, it didn’t play today’s word, but instead the word for the day that the Wayback machine had archived the site. Perhaps your browser has the old site cached or something and you’re doomed to be one day behind on answers forever from this point on.
I have a tab on my phone’s browser that I’ve kept open since before the NYT switch, so that’s probably how I’m still using it. When I opened a different tab it took me to the new site - without my stats.
I’ll try to keep it going as long as I can, but I’m sure I’ll lose the old tab eventually, along with my history.
I’m on the new site and have kept my history(s). I play on computer, iPad, and iPhone so have several histories.
