I think I’m going to switch S and C in my head-cannon about Wordle letter frequency. So now I’ll think of the most common consonants as CRTLN with the second most common being SDHMP(and K?).

After all, the mathematically optimal starting word is TRACE. Plus I just got a super easy 2 using its anagram CRATE, not an S in sight. It just feels like every answer has a C. S’s not so much.

My first “2” in the live game (I think I got one 2 from playing the archives):

Came together surprisingly well.

I try to play in the described “super-hard” mode, which can be frustrating at times when wracking my brain for one of what must be just a few words to apply to a given puzzle. I suppose I can deal more easily with the hard-luck case of missing out when there are more words left than guesses available, and I guess wrong.

Nice three today.

Took me several minutes to come up with any legal* word for the third guess, and when I finally thought of one, of course it was the answer. That’s the most satisfying for me.

*Going by the recently coined ‘super hard mode’ rules, as always.

The fun is laying the groundwork with two guesses that cover a lot of letters, but also don’t lock you into a situation where you have four greens and a bunch of possible answers. To that end, I now stay away from CH___ words to open, as well as ST____ style openers. Then the third guess is money.

I’m rather liking CR___ and CL___ openers at the moment. (CREPT, CLAMP, etc…)

Manually filtering out the one I was spoiled on, I’ve now played 40 games with 40 wins:

1: 0
2: 3 (one of these was luck)
3: 14
4: 12
5: 8
6: 3

After 40 my average score is 3.85.
