ASTER → Vowels worked. But where do they all go?
CRANE → Took a break after this to walk the dog. Came back and it was staring me in the face…

Scoredle says there were 19 possibilities on my last guess. I can vouch for the fact that 18 of them were total B.S. (MARGE was the closest to being a real word.)
