Turns out the only other option was CLIFF. Any of the three, if wrong, would have eliminated one of the other two. So I couldn’t do worse than par.

Could’ve also been unused HANKY, which I saw, and NACHO, which I didn’t until afterwards. Went with CAPON over HANKY at 3 partly because we were recently in Cacapon State Park in WV, and because I thought already-used PANIC might be a possibility, since at Wordle 210 it was closely adjacent to the Zone of Reusability (1-199), and the letters in CAPON would more likely pick up anything I was missing.

CRANE → Two WoFcons left, and I can cover them with
CANTS → Probably a bit unproductive, but I did place the A and like the eliminations. OK, N is at the end, so I can fill in with the Spanish-derived
CAJON → CANON is out, so looking at the remaining consonants I can see

Followup was 29/501, then 6/17, 1/5 and 1/2 for the solve, although the bogey guess was a tap-in as the other possible was bogus. Scoredle starts well, falls into a trap and ends up with a double bogey, having to try one of the words I had already eliminated. Tough day for the algorithm.

Lucky, lucky, lucky! There were at least a half-dozen unused possibilities after 1, plus one previous solution with a double-digit number. I went with today’s solution on 2 because I figured it would maximize my chances of a 3, but it did better than that.
