After the first guess, I figured there were only a few letters that could be the first letter, given the second letter. So I tried to come up with all the possibilities that started from those two-letter combinations, with the help of a dead-trees dictionary. But somehow I just plain missed the solution in my search, and my fifth guess as well; I only guessed those after having seemingly (but obviously incorrectly!) narrowed it down to one possibility.
Seemed like a good idea until it wasn’t! Anyway, after that, I was so disgruntled that I didn’t want to think about it anymore yesterday, let alone post about it. (Don’t worry, I’m feeling better today. 
)
