She also could be just looking up the answer before playing too. There’s no point in cheating like that, if she is in fact doing so, other than to get attention and try to make people think you have superpowers, which I think most, if not all, will see through anyways.
If it were one of my FB friends, I probably wouldn’t say anything either, but then again, if someone calls her out, or questions her about it, then others might chime in and she may stop doing it knowing she’s not pulling the wool over anyone’s eyes.

Unremarkable.
There really isn’t any point. After all, if one has truly solved it on the first guess, that’s just plain dumb luck, odds of well over a thousand to one against. It doesn’t involve the least bit of skill*.
So anyone who’s boasting of having solved it in one multiple times is bullshitting one way or another, either by cheating or by passing off an incredible run of luck as skill.
*Other than when the FTFNYT was getting cutesy back in Oct/Nov and we had at least one person use ‘FEAST’ as their opener on Thanksgiving day. Thank goodness they’ve gotten away from that.
I’ve gotten a 1 twice, and both times were because I saw the word here. I wish there was a way to erase that from my stats.
Cheating and then boasting, well, there are some out there that’ll do that. And then you learn a little about their character.
Cheating for a 1 is so weird to me. If I wanted to cheat to impress people, I would look up the answer and then come up with a reasonable first word that would narrow down the possibilities considerably for a plausible 2.
Like when the answer was under, I might use trend as my opener to hit four yellows. Trend is a believable opener, I think.

This was a toughie, with two pretty low-frequency letters. Looks like what the 4’s so far have in common is getting that _ORA_ middle section by the 3rd guess.

Apologies in advance, but: playing TORAH after HEART eliminated the T and the H? Was that (and playing MORAL after AROMA eliminated the M) a slip on your part, or am I slipping up by not spotting a trap you were playing to avoid, or something?
You’re right, sometimes I forget which letters have been tried and failed. That 6 was on me.

This is my fourth or fifth 4 in a row, which is very disheartening. After my 3s had fallen way behind my 4s (before switching to plant as my starter) I caught up so that the 3s were only one behind. Then I alternated 4s and 3s for several days, anxious to post that I had finally caught back up but not wanting to jinx it beforehand. My 3s (165) are now six behind my 4s (171). Very discouraging.

Even after getting four of the letters, this took me forever to solve, probably because I associate “borax” with a commercial product.
