Lucky, lucky, lucky: this could’ve been a 5. After 2, I thought I’d narrowed it down to BURST, GRIST, and TRUST, since FIRST and TRYST had been used. Somehow, despite having seen GRIST, I overlooked WRIST - don’t ask me how, I’ve got two of 'em, right there in plain sight as I’m typing this! And if WRIST had been the solution, I’d have gone with GRIST on 4, so it would have been a 5. So I was just plain lucky to make the right guess on 3.

LEAST → Does this qualify as a 3-letter trap? With three vowels still to go, I’ll use two and tack on a R to get
ROUST → Which leaves me with CRUST or TRUST. Flip a coin and try the first
CRUST → Darnit.
