Like @RTFirefly, I was sure I was getting a 2 today. Then as I was starting to get all worked up about another British spelling, Google told me that spelt is a type of wheat. Huh. Learned my something new for the day, I guess. Still doesn’t seem like a common enough word to be a Wordle answer, though.

Spelt came to me right away after my start word…I’ve eaten Spelt bread - it wasn’t my favorite, as it’s course and crumbly. With the repeat S and T in same spots two days in a row, I chose Steel over Spelt, but the editor loves to repeat things, and I should have known better. Not mad about a 3 though.
