Lucked and fumbled my way to a birdie. The luck part was coming up with the ER ending right out of the box.
Then, despite the dumb move of putting the N back in the wrong spot, my second word eliminated all other possibilities.

NICER → Not a bad start. Would like to try two comcons and an A, but fumbled around trying to find a word that doesn’t exist. But I did see one word that tickled my fancy and figured I’d give it a try and trust the B
BISON → No B. No S either, though that O is a nice pickup. I considered where to place the N, decided on the middle which forced the O to the end, then thought of L which brought me to
LINGO → So close. It ate my baby!

J was also a possibility. Scoredle has a tough time with NICER as the start word, running through several possibles to finish with a bogey, so my second guess getting the O was pretty lucky.
