It amazes me that a green S and a yellow H narrowed things down so much. The only other real possibility was SUSHI, which I overlooked. (It occurs to me that when I check Scoredle for what I’ve overlooked, SUSHI has been one of those words several times. I might should stop overlooking it.)

EXALT → Usually, my “first guess second” words have either A or E in them. Now, I have get creative. Comcons with I & O both, so I jumbled them up and arrived at
IRONS → which isn’t perfect due to the plural, but at least covered everything. I thought about some U possibilities, but decided to try the I in the middle and throw lots of different consonants at it, thus going with
WHISK → which transforms to ?WISH, which pretty obviously becomes
SWISH
Nice par, I even got to use my IRONS. I’m just glad I didn’t try for a third vowel with my second guess (terminal Y) and end up missing the letter that was overrepresented in the answer.

Got murdered on this one. I was pleased with myself when I came up with squid, but then didn’t see anything all day. By dinner time I finally saw sissy, but I was like, nah, no way that’s an answer.
Then at 11:54 I remembered that I never finished today’s Wordle, so in a panic I just tried the only word I had thought of. Locking in that second green S helped me finally see swish with only 2 minutes to spare before midnight.

For some reason I immediately thought of the Phish song, and now I’m listening to that album. Haven’t thought of either the song or the album in a hot minute.

FORCE
GLIDE
With L in the 2-spot after my starting word, I used FORCE instead of my usual CHORE at 2 because there wasn’t a lot of room for an H in the solution, and I wanted to knock off an extra consonant that could precede the L.
After 2, I could only find six words that could fit: ELIDE, ELUDE, GLEBE, GLIDE, PLEBE, and PLUME. ELUDE had already been used, and GLEBE and PLEBE seemed less likely*. Of the remaining three, I liked GLIDE best, and it would do well for narrowing things down if wrong. And today I got lucky and it was the solution.
(My choice of second word knocked out FLUME, which had been used, and FLUKE, which hadn’t. So it helped. )
*Despite how many times GLEBE appears in Arlington, VA.
