SLATE - crap
GROIN - vowel eliminator, so it has to be a ‘u’, has a double consonant and probably ends in ‘y’
GUPPY - right idea, wrong choice

All five vowels and all five WoF consonants on the board, and all I had was a single unplaced U. Not great. I smelled the terminal Y, but decided to throw as many consonants as possible at the wall to try to stay out of the _U__Y trap. And that worked. Lost the coin toss, but still not mad to escape with a bogey here; early on, it felt like I was on the road to a fail.
When I’m guessing, I stay away from words with multiples of the same letter but lately it seems that’s been the case in recent days.

@Rebo Yes lucky here too! DUMMY and YUMMY were possible, but I didn’t see them.
And 6% of hard mode players didn’t guess it, meaning broken streaks.

GUMMY → Not unexpected. I had a first guess played second ready for just this eventuality
SLATE → Would be nice to try both N & R, but I don’t see how. I’ll load up on consonants and trust the B
BRASH → If the S is second, I pretty much have to have a vowel in first, but then ?SAH? goes nowhere. So it’s a terminal S, which is odd. HOA?S goes nowhere, ?HA?S with no leading S or T pretty much forces a C which looks like

I resisted putting that final letter in that spot for as long as I could. Scoredle figures it out really quickly; I think it likes getting that fourth letter out there as soon as possible.
