DEBIT → A placed B at the outset! Cool. SEB??, TEB??, NEB?? all go nowhere. Thought about REBAR for a bit but didn’t want to double up a consonant early. So, figured on an O and tried
REBOP → and since REBUT was out, figured it was time to double up on the E with

REBUS/REBUT/REBAR were all still out there. Scoredle tries one of the first two (after my second guess) to assure a five, I could have had to go the distance. After my initial guess, Scoredle goes right to the answer, so that’s pretty impressive on the algorithm’s part.
