We’ve got a nice little 3 streak going here today on the boards, three for three.

A four for me too.
Thought I had a shot at a two, and also thought I chose a word that would guarantee a three. Missed the double-T word and couldn’t have been less lucky with my guesses.

A 2 always requires a certain amount of luck, and this was no exception. First of all, my starting word hit two (yellow) consonants, and I decided that was enough info to start going directly at solving, rather than following up with CHORE as usual.
Then I came up with a dozen likely prospects for a solution (I missed a few, too) and decided that of them, the solution was the prospect that would best narrow down my choices. I really didn’t expect it would be the solution, but no complaints.

hit the wrong reply button, not meant to specifically reply to Wheelz
WAGON → Whiff. So, I & E and three WoFcons of the four remaining.
STILE → Good guess. Hmmm. I could probably finish this with my next guess. IT?LE goes nowhere, as does I?TLE. But if the I is second, both ?ITLE and TI?LE are evocative…
TITLE
Might not have had the guts to try that in most circumstances, but it virtually screamed at me. Scoredle does similarly well from my start, but only takes two from its usual SLATE.

I’ll take it, considering my start.

LOUIE (The results are productive. Let’s try two Es)
ELITE (There can’t be a lot of possible words with those four letters)

Saw the trap but had enough guesses so decided to stay in hard mode. Thank goodness I didn’t miss any.

Getting pretty sick of this trap. The result for my first two words originally left over a dozen possibilities. But so many have been used as answers it’s down to like two now, I think.

A lucky 3. I chose my third word among several possibilities because it would determine for sure which of those possibilities was the solution, but I got lucky and it turned out to be the solution itself.
ETA: Because every word reminds me of a song, I now have “Clementine” as an earworm.
I’m seeing nervy, newer, riven, and reign that strike me as legit.
