LATTE → OK. I can’t think of a great follow-up here - something with I, S & T - so I tried something to get my brain in gear…
SLACK → and that turned out well! 4th letter could be N, and not much else, and since I need to do some abs work I’ll try…

It turns out that ALIST is a valid word, so I could have put down a better candidate on 2 that wouldn’t have helped me at all to get it in 3.
Why did you want a T in your second word? As for getting those three letters, don’t sleep on the _OIST (FHJM) trap.
EDIT: Also grist, as in grist for the mill.
Oh, right, duh! My brain turned off, probably because I had a few hours between when I did Wordle and when I summarized it, which I usually don’t do… I think it was ‘R’ I was obsessing over.
Now that I think of it, SNARL probably would have been ideal for all purposes except getting a 3. Here’s to the lucky guess!
