I out-clevered myself with my second guess. If I’d gone with my usual second word, CHORE, I’d have had an easy choice between the solution and ROOST on the third guess, rather than falling into a trap and having to settle for a 4 to avoid a possible 6. But I wanted to place the yellow letter from my first guess, and have a shot at the 2. Such is life.
